Supporting the Transition to Adulthood
Specialized Care for Teens and Young Adults with Significant Needs
The teenage years and young adulthood present unique challenges for individuals with autism and significant behavioral needs. Many families find that their options narrow as their child grows older—programs designed for young children don't meet their needs, and adult services aren't yet available.
Our Galley location was created to fill that gap. We provide intensive ABA therapy specifically designed for teens and young adults ages 14 to 21, with a focus on building the skills needed for greater independence, school reintegration, or transition to less restrictive programs.
Our Galley location serves a population that is often underserved by other ABA providers:
Teens and young adults ages 14-21 with autism spectrum disorder
Individuals with severe behaviors that may prevent school attendance
Those who require intensive support to develop language and functional skills
Young people preparing for transition to adulthood, work, or less restrictive settings
Families who have been told their child's needs are "too complex" for other programs
At CBLG, we don't turn families away because a young person's needs are significant. Our Galley team has the expertise, training, and facilities to support individuals with the most intensive behavioral challenges.
A Structured Day Program Designed for Success
Our Galley program is structured like a school day, providing consistency and routine while teaching essential skills:
Following Multi-Step Instructions
Building the ability to understand and complete complex tasks is essential for school, work, and daily life.
Peer Relationships
Developing social skills and learning to interact appropriately with peers in group settings.
Coping Strategies
Learning to manage emotions, handle frustration, and respond to challenging situations without escalation.
Functional Communication
Whether through verbal language, AAC devices, or other methods, we help each individual communicate their needs effectively.
Pre-Vocational Skills
For older teens and young adults, we introduce skills that prepare them for eventual employment or day programs.
Our Goal: Transition to Less Restrictive Settings
The ultimate goal of our Galley Rd Clinic is not to provide lifelong care—it's to help each individual build the skills they need to transition successfully to less restrictive environments.
This might mean:
Returning to a public school setting with appropriate supports
Transitioning to a day program with less intensive behavioral support
Moving toward supported employment or vocational training
Developing skills for greater independence at home and in the community
We work closely with families, schools, and other providers to ensure smooth transitions when individuals are ready to move on from our program.
A Facility Designed for Active Engagement
Our Galley location features spaces designed for teens and young adults who benefit from active, physical engagement:
Open gym space for large group activities and physical movement
Specially designed outdoor area with therapeutic swings and a trampoline
Separate turf field for outdoor play and physical activities
Climbing area to encourage physical challenge and sensory input
De-escalation/sensory rooms (DSRs) without doors—we do not use seclusion
Spaces for both group activities and individualized therapy sessions
Why Families Choose Our Galley Clinic
✓ We Serve Those Others Won't: Many ABA providers focus on younger children or those with less intensive needs. At Galley, we specialize in serving teens and young adults with severe behavioral challenges, the individuals who are often turned away elsewhere.
✓ Licensed by DHS: Our Galley clinic is licensed by the Colorado Department of Human Services, meaning we undergo fire and health inspections, comprehensive staff background checks, and ongoing state monitoring. Most ABA clinics in Colorado are not licensed.
✓ Experienced Crisis Team: Our staff is trained in safe crisis intervention techniques. We have experienced teams who know how to support individuals through challenging moments with dignity and safety.
✓ No Seclusion: Our de-escalation and sensory rooms intentionally do not have doors. We do not practice seclusion. Period.
✓ Transparency: If you ever have concerns about your child's care, you can contact the Colorado Department of Human Services directly—because we're licensed. We welcome that accountability.
